UK is fast moving away from fossil fuels

At SolarTherm UK, our ethos to support small-scale renewable energy started almost 15 years ago in 2010. At that point in time, only 0.0023% of Great Britain’s power grid was supplied by Solar PV, with around 70% of our electricity being generated by a mix of coal and gas-fired power stations.

Since then, coal-fired power stations in the UK are virtually extinct – producing less than 1% of the UK’s electricity supply on average. Meanwhile, electricity generated from gas has reduced by 40% in the last 3 months alone. In that same three months, solar has accounted for over 9% of UK electricity generation – that’s over half the output of all our nuclear power stations. All of this means that carbon emissions from electricity production are now the lowest ever recorded!

Back in 2010, people thought companies like us were crazy to start up in the solar installation business. Now there are over 1 million UK solar PV systems, with our region the south-east of the UK seeing the highest number of solar panel installations.

Solar PV panels installed by us in the last 15 years have also proven longevity, and our data shows an average 7.3 year return on investment. This means our first 7 years of customers (some 4280 clients) have had their invested capital repaid and are reaping on average £2000 per year in savings and benefits and still have at least 10 years to go!

Solar PV in most cases is now also known to be the lowest cost of generated electricity per kWh, as well as being completely emission free.

If you are considering lowering your carbon footprint and your electricity bills, it’s never too late to get involved! For a hassle-free & chilled out solar panel proposal fill in our online quote form.
