Thinking of going solar with SolarTherm UK? Or have you already booked in for your installation and wondering what the day will look like?
Any form of home improvement can be daunting and leave you worrying if you are making the right decision. With over 15 years of experience installing solar, our expert team of installers will make the process smooth, efficient and hassle-free. Here’s what you can expect on solar installation day.
Arrival and Site Preparation
Our friendly team will arrive at the scheduled time and will introduce themselves and walk you through the days plan before getting started. They’ll carry out a final safety check, inspect the scaffold, electrical system and your roof, then confirm the panel layout and placement of your inverter and battery (where applicable).
Panel Mounting and Roof Work
Once we’ve completed our initial inspection, it’s time to get started with the install. Our experienced roofer will make his way to the roof and mark out where your panels and mounting rails need to be installed. Once all is marked out, our roofer will secure the brackets to the roof structure, install your solar panels and lay the cabling from the panels to the inverter location ready for our electrician to connect everything up. We work neatly and safely and ensure your roof remains watertight. We aim to keep disruption to a minimum – allowing you to get on with your day as normal.
Electrical Setup and Inverter Installation
After the roof installation is complete, it is time for our electrician to connect everything up and install your inverter. The inverter converts the direct current (DC) electricity your panels generate to alternating current (AC) electricity you can use to power your home. Your inverter will be installed in your loft, garage or near to your fuse board. Our electrician will then connect your inverter to your consumer unit, install any solar batteries you have opted for and set up your generation meter and monitoring device.
System Testing and Commissioning
On completion of the install, we will run a full system test to ensure everything is working as it should be and that your panels are working efficiently. We’ll be checking the voltage levels, power generation, safety compliance and your grid connection. We’ll also walk you through how to read your system, check for issues and understand your energy production. If you have a system that has a monitoring system we will also help you get connected and run you through how to use the app.
Handover and Certification
Before leaving we will tidy up, remove any packaging and complete a full handover. Our team will go through any questions you may have and explain about maintenance and monitoring. Your MCS certificate, DNO approval and product warranties will be sent to you on completion of the job – usually the morning after once we have received the installation report from our installers.
We’ll also let you know what to expect in the first few days and weeks, and who to contact if you need support (hint: it’s us!).
From Start to Shine – It’s That Simple
A standard domestic installation typically takes less than one day (or two for more complex systems). Our goal is always to get you up and running quickly—with minimal disruption and maximum results.
