When and Why was EPVS Launched?
In 2016, in response to the increase in concern about the inconsistent and misleading figures provided by renewable energy installers, EPVS was launched. At the time, many consumers were receiving inaccurate forecasts about energy savings and returns – often unintentionally – leading to mistrust in the renewable energy industry. This mis-selling impacted homeowners by causing finance providers to withdraw from the market, making it harder for customers to access funding for their solar and renewable energy projects. The need for a trusted industry standard to be established, promoting transparency, accuracy and accountability across the solar industry resulted in the establishment of EPVS – a trusted third-party certification scheme used to rebuild confidence among consumers and finance providers alike.
What EPVS Certifies
EPVS ensures that the performance figures and financial estimates we provide as part of your quote are accurate and not over-inflated. Before even joining EPVS, a rigorous check was carried out on us to validate the processes we use to calculate savings and running costs. EPVS also looked at our sales techniques to ensure we don’t over sell or provide inaccurate or misleading information – it’s why at SolarTherm UK we are happy to let the figures do the talking and don’t employ hard-sell techniques.
EPVS don’t just carry out thorough checks before accepting an installer onto the scheme, they continue to check each and every quote that’s accepted before installation to ensure the figures we provide are maintaining accuracy.
