When one solar installation leads to another
When a homeowner in Herne Bay, Kent decided to invest in solar energy, they wanted a system that would help reduce their reliance on grid electricity, lower their energy bills and make better use of the renewable energy generated by their home.
In May 2026, SolarTherm UK installed a 6.75 kWp solar PV system with battery storage at the property, using high performance Aiko N-Type ABC Neostar solar panels alongside a 9.4 kWh Hanchu ESS battery.
The installation proved such a positive experience that just four weeks later, in June 2026, we were invited back to install a second solar and battery system – this time at the customer’s father’s property right next door.
The First Installation – May 2026
The original Herne Bay installation consisted of:
- 15x Aiko N-Type ABC Neostar 450W solar panels
- 9.4 kWh Hanchu ESS battery
The combination of solar generation and battery storage allows the household to generate renewable electricity during daylight hours and store surplus energy for use later, helping to maximise the amount of generated power used within the home.

The Second Installation – June 2026
Just four short weeks after completing the first installation, SolarTherm UK returned to Herne Bay – but this time to install solar at the customer’s father’s property next door.
The second property received:
- 14x Aiko N-Type ABC Neostar 450W solar panels
- 9.4 kWh Hanchu ESS battery
The second system was designed to provide the same key benefits: generating clean electricity on-site, storing excess solar energy in the battery and reducing the household’s reliance on electricity from the grid.
Predicted Financial Benefits
The second installation also offers strong projected returns:

- Estimated payback period: 7 years
- Predicted 30 year savings: £115,281
Interestingly, despite being a slightly smaller 6.30 kWp system, the second property’s predicted payback period is just 7 years, demonstrating why it’s important to base system design around the individual property’s energy consumption.
