What is the Tesla Powerwall?
The Tesla Powerwall is designed as a home battery unit that is compact and capable of storing electricity generated by solar panels. The Tesla Powerwall can help you to maximise the use of the electricity you generate by storing it until you need it rather than exporting it to the grid.
The Tesla Powerwall provides customizable power modes which enable you to optimise your electricity at times that suit you the most or benefit you in terms of the highest bill savings with time-based controls. It can also recharge from the grid when energy prices are lower so you can also store low-cost electricity to use at times when costs are higher. You can also use the Tesla Powerwall as backup protection in the event of a power cut as the battery will continue to power your home safely during the power cut. It even has features like a storm watch to know when potential storms may affect your home and can charge your battery to full in case a power cut occurs.
The Tesla Powerwall can be installed outside on the wall of your home to save space and is minimally intrusive. It is designed to withstand harsh environments and extreme weather conditions including being able to maintain normal operation in high humidity, cold temperatures, and 0.6 meters of water.

Which Tesla Powerwall should I choose?
Currently, there is only the Powerwall 2 available until later this year when Powerwall 3 is released in the UK.
Tesla Powerwall 2 has a storage capacity of 13.5kWh with a continuous power output of 5kW and comes with a 10-year warranty.
Tesla Powerwall 3 also has a storage capacity of 13.5kWh but has an increased continuous power output of 11.5kW, and still has a 10-year warranty. The increased power output from the Powerwall 3 will enable the battery to power more items in your home at the same time without needing the grid to top up the demand.
