Running an Office with Solar Panels

SolarTherm UK’s project in June 2022 for Playfair Capital consisted of designing and installing a 32 panel, 12kWp commercial solar system for the London based office. The 32 solar panels were installed by our technicians across 3 different roof spaces. One pitched roof space is home to 24 panels, while the remaining 8 are split over 2 sections of flat roof space. The complex installation required careful planning within the confined spaces of central London, but the office is now able to create eco-friendly & low carbon electricity all year round. The office solar panel system is equipped with SolarEdge to maximise the efficiency and there are live monitoring facilities in place to ensure constant reliability of the solar panel system.

Back in the Summer of 2022 Playfair had the pleasure of dealing with SolarTherm UK. They introduced a 12kWp Solar PV system at our London HQ. 

Our PV system has just passed its second birthday, and the performance is more than pleasing. 

Since June 2022, we have generated an impressive 19.8MWh – which is the equivalent to Playfair Capital planting 232.56 trees whilst saving 3,843.87kg in CO2 Emissions had we used electricity from the grid. 

Since installation our electricity Supplier has increased our Daytime Usage Rate by 138%. We know only too well this will continue to increase over time. Installing Solar PV made efficient use of a previously unused roof space, offset a good portion of our electricity consumption, whilst reducing our electricity bills by over £4000 per year. The capital outlay is also completely tax deductible. 

Solartherm UK produced a CAD design from an on site survey, permissions from the grid were obtained, all paperwork was completed and a full hand over was supplied alongside an operations manual. 

Having now been through the process, If we had to choose a contractor again we would most definitely choose SolarTherm UK without hesitation. We gathered many quotations at the procurement stage, Solartherm UK being middle of the row on costings but came out best on contract negotiations, customer handling and then installation performance.  Playfair Capital is more than satisfied with the performance and highly recommend the SolarTherm UK team.
