About the Renewable Heating Incentive

The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (Domestic RHI) is a government financial incentive to promote the use of renewable heating.

Switching to heating systems that use eligible energy sources can help the UK reduce its carbon emissions and meet its renewable energy targets.

The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive can result in a payment of up to £10,000 given out over the course of seven years, in quarterly payments, based on the amount of clean and green renewable heat that your system produces.

Since opening in April 2014, the scheme has already seen thousands of people successfully join and receive payments.

The scheme is open to anyone, both off and on the gas grid.

How the scheme works

At first we will have to call you and book an appointment for a free, non-binding assessment of your property. The phone call will take only a few minutes of your time, during which we can explain the scheme to you, and answer any questions that you might have.

The assessment itself will take about an hour of your time, during which the assessor will ensure the property is suitable for having a state of the art, environmentally friendly hybrid boiler fitted. We will also check your existing boiler’s efficiency and go through your utility bills with you. This enables us to calculate how much money the Hybrid Boiler would generate for your household in both savings and the government's Renewable Heat Incentive. A report based on those calculations will be provided to you, showing whether the boiler can pay for itself.

If you’ll be happy with the figures and would like to proceed, we will look for a financial backer willing to finance the system for you. This ensures that there will be no upfront cost, whiles the repayments can be covered by the RHI payments and the savings from your heating bills. If the system falls short of self-funding, you will still have the option to make a small contribution to go ahead with your new hybrid boiler.

If it works and you are happy we can then proceed to install your system.

Why upgrade to a hybrid boiler?

Gas prices in the UK are continuing to rise and switching to a hybrid boiler is a smart way to reduce your total reliance on extortionately priced fuel from energy companies. Users can expect to save up to 35% on mains gas usage and up to 60% on liquefied petroleum gas, making the Daikin Altherma an economical investment as well as an ecological one.

The Daikin Altherma is up to 35% more efficient at space heating and up to 15% more efficient in heating water compared to a conventional new gas combi boiler, due to the advanced hybrid heat pump and gas boiler system which can transition between four different modes depending on what suits the needs of your house at the time.  This smart system ensures your boiler is always operating at the highest efficiency.

About Hybrid Boilers

The Daikin hybrid heat pump is a unique combination of a high-efficiency gas combi boiler and renewable energy air-to-water heat pump. Depending on the temperature outside and your gas/electricity tariff, the heating system decides on what heating method is presently the most cost-efficient.

Heat pumps have a unique advantage over traditional gas boilers -  instead of having to produce heat, it simply extracts it from the air outside, in a similar way your refrigerator works but in reverse. This process is extremely efficient and consumes a much smaller amount of energy.
